Meaning of Shawl 

 Shawl is a long piece of cloth which is worn around the shoulder for the motive of giving a beautiful look. It can be rectangular and triangular both and is used by many people covering arms in a sleeveless dress. 

Earlier, the women were using woolen shawls for covering their arms during winter. But now it is made of very light cloth so that it can be worn in summers and give comfort as well.

Meaning of Scarf

In the past, Scarf was used to be called a ‘muffler’. A Scarf is much more thin than a Shawl. Nowadays Fashionist consider scarves more comfortable than shawls.

A Scarf gives a more attractive look because of its decorative corners. It can be tied around the neck and can be worn in several styles. A Scarf can be worn on  the tops and kurtis both.
